Message from JoAnna: My goal is to celebrate love and help couples get married. Becoming an ordained minister / wedding officiant has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. It has allowed me to celebrate love in all forms. I get to help couples, from all walks of life, create memories that are as unique as they are, and to witness the happiness, joy and love between these couples in the most vulnerable time of their lives as they say “I do” in the way they envision their ceremony, no matter how big or small.

Where do you obtain a marriage license in Louisiana?

From the Parish Clerk of Court in your area

What required documents will you need to obtain a marriage license in Louisiana?

  • Photo ID
  • Birth Certificates and/or waivers
  • Social Security Numbers and/or waivers
  • Previous Marriage Documents (if applicable)
  • Covenant Marriage Affidavit(s) (if applicable)

What are the requirements for applying for a marriage license in Louisiana?

  • You need to apply for a license if the marriage is being held in the State of Louisiana.
  • A Marriage License purchased in the State of Louisiana must be used in the State of Louisiana.
  • You must apply for the license within 30 days of the wedding date. The marriage license will expire 30 days from the application date.
  • Be sure to reference any specific requirements for your parish and follow their specific instructions.
  • There is a 24-hour waiting period before the license can be used.
