Notary Services

JoAnna Landry is a Louisiana Commissioned Notary Public with statewide jurisdiction, do you know what that means or what services a Louisiana Notary Public can provide?

The Louisiana Civil Law Notary has broad powers usually reserved for attorneys in other states.
A Notary can draft, prepare and execute Affidavits, Acknowledgments and Authentic Acts.

In Louisiana, a few of the duties a Notary can perform include:

  1. Authenticate Signatures: Notaries can verify the identity of individuals signing documents to prevent fraud.
  2. Administer Oaths and Affirmations: A notary can legally administer oaths and affirmations, which are often required for affidavits, legal statements, and other sworn documents.
  3. Draft and Execute Legal Documents: Unlike many other states, Louisiana notaries can draft, prepare, and execute legal documents, including:
    • Wills and Trusts
    • Power of Attorney
    • Affidavits
    • Real Estate Transactions (Acts of Sale, Mortgages, Title Transfers)
    • Contracts and Agreements
  4. Real Estate Transactions: Louisiana notaries have the authority to handle real estate closings, including preparing and filing sale agreements, mortgages, and deeds.
  5. Affidavits and Acts of Acknowledgment: Notaries can notarize statements made under oath and acknowledge that a signer personally appeared before them.
